Hi all.. fresh newby here....

Just picked my ride which has a HORNET alram system in it with back up battery, immobilizer etc....

Now my problem is that when the alarm is triggered (tripped) there is no audible alarm sound coming from the speaker under the hood. It triggers fine and the indicator lights flash and the immobilizer is functioning.  I am pressuming the alarm is on silent mode??

I dont have the key for the alarm speaker (under the hood) but I tried picking the lock and got it to turn one notch (middle position)...  the audible alarm went on but the alarm remote would not turn it off and the alarm was not armed. took me some time to try to pick it back to its original position where the audible sound stopped.

NOw my Q is: Will the third key position on the alarm turn off the silent mode????

If not, is it controlled via the remote??\

Cheers

Sounds like you have a battery backup siren. The reason its switched off is probably that its faulty. Thats why it sounds when you turn the lock. Best get it checked by a dealer, it may be that the siren has lost its power supply from the alarm.
