Hello all. Ran into a little trouble today doing a Valet 551 R in a 2003 Toyota RAV4 with the Toyota factory "security" remotes. Basically, I'm wondering why I can't get the lock/unlock to work in this system. I tapped the blue/orange (LOCK) and blue / YELLOW (UNLOCK) at the driver's kick panel in the top plug (which is removed with a 10mm bolt - I'm at the correct block, yes?). I thought it was a simple negative for lock, negative for unlock driver, 2x negative for all unlock. But I'm wondering if the factory Toyota piece is blocking me from this? The car won't lock/unlock with the Valet, but still works with the factory keyfob.

The other thing I can't get around is only important if I can't use the 551R to unlock... the facotry keyfob doesn't work once the car is remote started, even without me tapping the keysense wire (I tried it both ways with no difference).

And finally, now I've got an ABS light and the speedometer isn't working... sitting here late at night, the ONLY thing I can think of is that I didn't put that wiring block back completely???

Any thoughts on any/all issues are appreciated. I'll be at it again tomorrow afternoon. Thanks!
Erik

does the speedometer and abs light come on when the car is started normally?  if not, you may be missing and accessory or ignition wire in your remote start.  also, did you test those wires for locks--- i have seen tech sheets wrong and i just had to go in and test wires the same color as those on the switch in order to find the right wires

If you had to remove the bolt holding the "fuse block", your going to have to put it back all the way and tighten it.

Had a similar problem (but on a ford). I forgot to tighten the bolt holding fuses and i guess it was a ground. The truck started freaking out on me.

Keeping my fingers crossed that that's it... since the lock/unlock wires are in that wiring block, I'm HOPING that the reason why the 551R isn't locking/unlocking has to do with the fact that I didn't secure the wiring block down enough... I'll send an update in a few hours when I get the car back.
