hello, i am looking for a recommendation for a no frills remote start/keyless entry, that is easy to install and program, and comes with very good step by step instructions on installation, programming, and troubleshooting. I have heard good things about DEI 561R, Compustar 1WAM-S, Ultra Start 1270. which one of these or any others would fit the bill for a first time installer? thanks.

When I first saw the title, the first thing that popped into my head was "93 GM truck"......

Any of those units are pretty solid basic starters.

I find that the DEI like to use outboard relays so just make sure you know your relays well enough to fish through the wiring. The Compustar is good, but some first time installer's have trouble decyphering the install manual because it's very vague & the Ultra Starts are good as well, but I 'm not a fan of their programming instructions.... takes some time before you can go through the entire sequence especially if your wanting to change installer features.

velocity is right you might be better getting a unit with everything built in like the scytek 5000 or 5100 or compustar unit.

only problem with these units is they tend to have big brains/control units
