Ok, here's the situation.
i have a 94 hyundai excel. got an aftermarket power window kit, and installed that. got an alarm, instaleld that. all sweet. however, i dont use the air con all the time, and have the windows down(what can i say, i also want to show off my stereo =P) occasionally. well, i decided to get an auto-window closer module, because i found i forgot to wind them up occasionally. well, i figured out where all the wires go, and how to hook it up, etc.
beautiful. tested it out, and it started to wind the windows up as planned. however, it stopped about 7cm into winding. well, i said hmm. read the instructions and found thta if it does that, then you need to turn the potentometer up. did that, exacts ame thing happened.
so i spoke to some installers online, and found that these modules often have a current sensor built in, and shut off once a certain current is drawn by the winders. so i hooked up a multimeter, and found that it shut off when the winder drew in excess of around 13.6 amps.
well, it hought for a while. and i decided that the ismplest way to fix this, would be to hooka relay into the winder system, with the intent of the output from the module flipping the relay, and allowing the winder to draw up to 30amps from the battery. too easy. however, i then realised, i would have no way to turn this new setup off.... so...
my question is this.
does anyone have any idea how to wire this up to work? or anything that might work? any way to use some other components to stop the relay powering the winder properly?
any help would be appreciated. im very good with electronics(how modest =P), and have installed everything in my car myself fine, including the alarm, stereo, power windows, central locking, etc, so i am familiar with the car's wiring and am not afraid of a little hard work!

Is only one window giving you grief or both? Do you have one module per window or does one module do both? If it's two modules and only one is problematic then swap left and right modules and see what happens.

use the window modulce by dei the 530t it has adjustments for the sensors so you can adjust them more properly. the other moducles out there aren't any good.

I agree with you ohnelly1978 but the resistance switches don't compensate for a bad install. Rbimdxe said to fix this, would be to hooka relay into the winder system, with the intent of the output from the module flipping the relay. It's not gonna work. Module needs to be connected to motor wires directly and it needs to see EMF generated within the motor for it to function. Back to the drawing board. ------------- Prepare your future.
