I have a problem with my Viper 550HF. In the winter when the temperature is below 0, the system freezes and I cannot do anything (disarm alarm, remote start...). I've been having this problem since the first winter I've had the 550 installed. I've been back to the dealer and the replaced the module but I still have the same problem. I'm really annoyed with it and if I don't find the problem soon I think I'll just go buy a new alarm+starter. What's the point of having a remote starter if it doesn't work when it's cold!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably go ahead and redo the powers and the ground. If at all possible try and use a factory ground. You should definately solder the power.

it sounds like a faulty install to me...

my mother has the same starter and never has a problem, and she lives in rural Alberta, with temperatures dipping below -40C...not once has the unit "froze up"...sometimes its so cold that her old actuators just wont push hard enough, but the starter aspect works just fine...

where do you live and what shop did the install? I would advise you to ask them to re-install it for free, and ask that it be done properly this time...

I live in Montreal. I installed it at this shop that doesn't exist anymore. I recently went to another shop (Evolution). They said they can find the problem. All they done is ship the module back to DEI. It took a month to come back and they would change their story all the time. One time it would be that DEI said that there's nothing wrong with the module then at the end they said that the module is no good and tried to sell me a used Viper module (not the same model). I have the feeling they didn't even send it anywhere.

It's hard to find a car shop that you can trust.

You can send it back to DEI yourself just sent my alarm brain to them and a week later I recived a new one no questons asked
