I bought a used 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix with an aftermarket remote start that we don't have any remotes for....It will try at random to start the car at any time even while it's running...Does anyone know an easy way to disable this feature?

Look under your dash and unplug the fuse to the alarm.

You should be able to find some wires that are poorly taped, follow it back to the Brain. unplug the fuses leading up to the alarm.

Or follow the LED back to the brain.

The fuse pannel is under the hood....It doesn't have an alarm that I'm aware of....so the led in the dash will help me find the controller for the remote start?  How will I know which fuse it is in the fuse box?

aftermarket remote start

Follow the LED back to the Alarm. There, you will see some fuses inline on some wires. Unplug THESE fuses.

The controller for the starter is the brain.

No luck......I traced them into the dash as far as I could...there are some panels under the steering wheel I couldn't remove

It's pretty easy to see any aftermarket wiring under the dash once the cover is removed. You have to remove the entire lower dash bolster to reveal the steering column and wires. Once you have done this you will see the ignition wires where the remote starter would have it's wires attached. Look for the wires attached to the RED wire(s) and remove the fuses from this connection.
