hello folks,

I just bought an 86 VW Scirocco and it won't start. It looks like the PO installed an alarm with an immobiliser. Now, I've got this picture of the wires, and I was wondering if anyone could help me at all to identify the alarm so I can get one and get this thing working again! Even better would be to splice the wires disable the alarm completely, 'cause I'm cheap. OK, here it goes..

I like the styling of those cars a lot.....they look especially sharp in red.

I don't recognize those wires. Do you have the remotes? The brain? Any names or numbers on the brain? What about the alarm is/isn't working?

If you want to just remove it altogether, that shouldn't be too hard.

Just follow each wire from the alarm and see where it goes......it's going to be spliced into the car's wiring.....just disconnect it from the car, and tape up the car's wire.

In the case of the immobilizer, usually referred to as "starter kill," you're going to find a situation where the car's factory wire was cut in half, and both halves would be connected to an aftermarket relay........simply get rid of the relay and all the new wiring, and put the car's factory wire back together the way it was.

That's funny Chris, I was thinking about repaiting it in white =D

it didn't come with the brain, that's my problem #1. If I had that, then I could know what goes where..

I'll look at my manual again and see if I can figure anything out =/

The thing has a clifford magnetic resonance sensor, whatever that thing is..

pull the wiring out of the car. you'll find the immobiliser that way..

does the car crank when you try start it.
have you got ignition light etc. that way we can point you in the right direction to look for immob.

Find the ignition harness. Then look for the large gauge wire that is cut and has aftermarket wiring butt connected to it. Reconnect that wire to itself and the alarm should be completely out of the loop.
