Immobilizer Enough?

I am not familiar with all of the new ways that car thieves steal cars, and less than 25% of my customers are interested in alarms, so I do not have to get very creative when it comes to putting in theft-deterring features.  I have seen some people go to extremees on this forum, so i am sure there are some people in higher crime areas then myself.  My question is:  With a Transponder based anti-theft device, is a starter kill relay, or an ignition kill relay going to improve the vehicles security.  I have heard that some thieves use a huge set of keys to test in the ignition, but I am not sure how likely it is that it would work very well.  And if the thirf is good enough to get past the immobilizer, would a starter kill relay deter them in the least?  I mean they could cut the power to the alarm and they would be off.  Unless I had normally open starter kill rleays but I am not going to do that.  So what else am I not considering?  Now i know there is nothing you can do to guarantee a car will not get stolen, I mean they could tow the damn thing if they wanted.  I guess I just don't see a purpose for the starter kill or the ignition kill or the whatever kill since they are all controlled by the alarm. 

Any thoughts?

If the thief is just a common thief that wants to steal whatever is inside the car, then a starter disable will do little. The main problem is with the theft of vehicles and your right. If someone really wants your car...they'll find a way to tow it or lift it onto a flat bed and take their sweet time to disassemble it. If the fear of thef tof the vehicle is high, use a tracking system ( kinda like On-Star ).

I would say that adding starter kill relays and stuff in that line just adds the time the theift has to be in your car trying to steal it. If you had like 2 150db sirens, a couple of peizo - the extra time it takes to disable those will just prove to painfull and take off. Like Jeff said, if they want it bad enough they'll find a way to take it.

Like Jeff said if a theif wants the car bad enough then nothing is going to stop them.  The best bet is to go with a tracking system.  If it isn't a gm or the customer doesn't want Onstar then I would recommend LoJack, and I'm not just saying that because I work for them, if they are in your state.  As far as immobilizers go it doesn't even take a key to bypass most of them.  If an ignition kill was installed in a very good and out of the way spot in the car, but you would have to worry about the relay going out eventually, it would probably take some time to bypass.

Yeah I forgot to mention I have On Star.  How can you bypass the immobilizer?

For GM it is similar to coding another key to the computer.  I don't want to say exactly how to do it but it only takes a couple of minutes.
