I installed an Autopage alarm in a 1999 Tahoe and utilized the remote start option. When I push the start button the starter turns over but the engine won't continue running. I have hooked up the following wires: Red - 12V constant, Red - 12V constant, violet - 12V in crank only, pink - 12V switched, brown - 12V switched but 0 in crank position, yellow - 12V switched. The directions refer to a third ignition wire that I have not located. Is that keeping the start feature from starting the engine? Also, I have hooked up to the tach wire. Do you recommend using voltage sensing or time sensing instead? FYI, I am using a Bulldog harness that made connection to the ignition wires pretty simple. That harness does not have a third ignition comming off it. ------------- Ron Schaller

HAVE YOU BYPASSED THE PASSLOCK2 SYSTEM ALSO I NOTICED YOU HOOKED UP YOUR SECOND IGN TO THE BROWN WIRE I BELIEVE THAT THAT IS THE ACCESSRY(RADIO, WIPERS ) WIRE THE SECOND IGN SHOULD BE WHITE AT THE IGN HARNESS

THE SECOND IGN WIRE IS WHITE CHANGE YOUR CONNECTION AND SEE IF IT SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM

I am about to install this alarm on a 1997 yukon 2 door... I am pretty sure that my truck does not have a built-in antitheft device (i.e. passlock) , but can someone confirm this. I checked out my model on bypasskit.com and I don't think I have a VATS or Passlock system... If I need a module to bypass some system like this, could someone help me out? Thanks, -Jeff

Can anyone tell me how to bypass the Passlock system? It is not the one with the resistor in the key so I have to do it another way.

Use a relay and a trimpot: Pin 85 to ground out when running from RS. Pin 86 to 12v+. Pin 30 to yellow passlock wire computer side. Pin 87a to Yellow passlock wire key side. Pin 87 to one side of the trimpot and the other side of the trimpot to the black ORANGE / Black passlock ground wire. To get the resistence value: Strip back the ORANGE / Black wire. Start the car with the key, then cut the yellow passlock wire. strip back the key side of the yellow wire and take a DMM and put one lead on the key side of the yellow wire and the other on the ORANGE / Black wire. Record the resistence, then reverse the two leads and record the resistence. Dial in the higher of the two resistences recorded into the trimpot and set it up with a relay using the information above. I can email you a diagram of the relay and trimpot configuration if you want one. ------------- J Rilla

Thanks for your reply. A e-mailed diagram would be great, but I have a 3 questions. 1) Can I measure the resistance and then install a resistor with that value? 2) Where do I find the yellow and ORANGE / black passlock wires? 3) The key I use does not have a resistor on it. It is just a regular key. Where is the resistance coming from? Thanks again. ------------- Ron Schaller

After I sent the e-mail I re-read your earlier directions and, sure enough, I was measuring across the yellow instead of across the yellow and ORANGE / black. I got a proper value, installed the resistor and it worked perfect. Thank you so much for your help and time. You were a real blessing!
