Doing a remote start/alarm on a 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup. For the parking lights it states that it is a purple / YELLOW in the headlight switch and is negative trigger. I'm using the directwire sheet. For the notes it states "Parking lights require a negative trigger thru a 330 or 1.4K ohm resistor. There is a rest resistance on the wire, so MUST use a relay to isolate away from the switch". First question is Which resistor should I use the 330ohm or the 1.4k ohm or does it not matter. Second how should I wire up this relay to isolate from the circuit. Thanks.

How do i know which resistor to use for this vehicle? What should the voltage be once I test it. Also I thought for isolating the circuit you needed to use 87a on the relay.

That however is a very nice diagram. Where did you get that from.

It did make it  a little easier. The parking lights rests at 4.7v and go to 2.5v when energized. So which resistor should I use.

try 330 ohms. The higher value will trigger the headlights.

allright thanks guys for the quick response. Can I get one more member to confirm that the diagram that swamprat supplied is correct. I'm not saying your wrong, i actually really appriciate it  just better safe than sorry.

Its correct use the 330 ohm resistor and you'll be stillen'

I have never isolated lights from the switch on any Chrysler car and have never had an issue. I'm not sure why DEI tells you that, i've done hundreds with no issues other than it being a different value resistor than what they specify.
