Hello guys and gals,

I just installed a RS/alarm into a 2005 Bonneville using the bypass module. It seems to be working ok, exept for the following "undocumented features".

1. The first thing I have noticed that I can duplicate everytime: With the car running (rs or key), if I use the remote to open the trunk, the radio will switch from cd to radio (or vice versa) and one time, the volume was down, after openening the trunk via remote, the volume turned up half way.

2. Second thing is the door trigger seems to be flaky. I have the alarm set for passive arming. Sometimes, it will begin the 30sec countdown, even with a door open. This issue is not as consistant as the first, but the trunk trigger (hard wired) turns the passive arm on and off reliably, so I think it's only the door triggers via data bus.

I have another issue with the r/s, but I think that is the alarm. During the start sequence, the lights come on on the dash (ignition power), the car starts, and then all of the lights go off, for about a second, then come back on, like the ignition looses power and comes back, but the car continues to run the whole time. This only happens at start. Once it is running, there are no other issues.

The power/ground for the gmdlbp is piggy backed on the alarm power and ground (the alarm ones, not the r/s ones) which run directly to the battery and the closest frame bolt.

Thanks you for any insight you can provide.

jeff

1. That's weird. I have only one guess. Every time the GM-DLBP is operated, it switches all of the car's controls to Driver 1.

Is someone occasionally using factory remote #2, or pushing the Driver 2 button in the car (if you have one)?

Try putting the radio at a moderate volume, and then pre-set Driver 1, and then Driver 2, so they're both the same.

2. Don't know. How did you end up hooking up door trigger?

Are you sure all of the car's doorlatch switches are good? At night, do all of the doors turn on the domelight, 100% reliably?

Fords are known for unreliable door switches, but I haven't heard of the same issue in GM cars.

As far as I know, don't have the driver 1/2 option. At anyrate though, the factory key fobs are in the glove box, I'm positive that they are not used.

The door trigger is managed through the data bus isn't it? I did not connect anything to the doorlatch switches directly. The only thing I did related to the door trigger is connect the (-)door trigger wire from the alarm to the pink/white wire on the bypass module. I did not connect the pink wire (on the gmdlbp)to anything as you instructed.

Thanks for helping me, any input is greatly appreciated. I sent a note to bypasskit.com too, but I don't expect to hear from them until next week.

I still can't edit yet. I forgot to say that I will double check the doors/dome light thing to night. I didn't bother to check that before, because all 4 doors trigger the alarm when opened, I just assumed that they were all working correctly.

Hmm.

Well, that's how I've always done the door trigger using that piece, and I haven't had any comebacks, so I was just assuming it was a good way. It's also what one of the tech-support guys on the phone at Trilogix told me.

But, unless the customer requests otherwise, we always do active arming........so I've never had a chance to see how it works out as passive arming.

As far as the Driver 1 and Driver 2.........   I think there's an optional package that controls nearly everything for the two drivers, including buttons on the door..........but I also think, as standard equipment, there's a feature tied to the factory remotes that changes a couple of settings for you.

Look at the back of the factory remotes, do they have 1 and 2 printed on them? If so, check the owner's manual for programming instructions, and set it so that they're both the same.

Thanks again for your help Chris. I haven't gotten a chance to check the dome light yet, but I will.

Now that I think about it, the factory fobs do have a 1 and 2 on them. I'll check out the owner's manual when I check the doors.

See you later.
