I've installed a python 881xp in an 06 F150. I tapped into a fuel injector wire as stated in another post on this forum. I can't get the brain to learn the tach signal. I even tried changing the jumper setting. How long does one have to sit there and hold in the valet button to learn the signal? Does anyone have another suggestion for a different wire to try? Thanks

Double check to make sure you have the UNcommon inj. wire. It should only take about 3 seconds for it to learn the tach. If it doesn't, you are either tapped into the wrong wire or you're not entering the programming sequence correctly. I don't know where else to get the tach. DEI usually posts the easiest loaction. The inj. wire is usually a last resort for tach signal so I doubt you can get it anywhere else.

Thanks for the help everyone. I got all the other connections I need buttoned up. I just for some reason can't get the tach signal . On each fuel injector there is only two wires. All of them have a red one and a tan/black or something else. I have just tried the tan because I read the wire map online. If I test the tan wire(with a dmm) with the truck running what should it read 14v dc cause that's what i get.

The tach wire should be ac current and the volts should relate to what the tach is telling you. For example if you are at 1000 rpms you should have 1 volt ac and if you were at 2000 rpms you should have about 2 volts ac and so on.

I have a question as it pertains to the above diagram, I have an 05 F-150 supercab XLT. In connecting the power door locks it refers to the green connector in the driver side well by the e brake. The pins for the lock and unlock in the diagram say pin 1 pink/lt green unlock and pin 9 pink / YELLOW lock. I have found those wires on pins 8 pink/lt green (and there is another on pin 15) and pin 6 pink/ yellow . Is there an error somewhere or are they refering to pins on another connector. I am just finishing up the connections and have not plugged in the Python to it yet to see if it works. Just curious???

test them with a meter should read 12v then go to 0.00 whe you hit the switch or go to the rear cabin and get them there you sould always test your conections anyways just dont go hooking up wires

Thanks to everyone who responded, I appreciate it very much. Turns out I did have the right tach wire, my valet switch was not functioning. I plugged a new valet switch in, started the truck and God Bless America, it learned the tach signal. With th key in I can remote start it. Thanks again for the help
