Car starter is up and running. I installed a power trunk solenoid, grounded at the trunk and power cable running to the front with a switch. Works like a charm. Installed a Crimestopper alarm/starter, and since it gives a - output for trunk I hooked up the relay as stated on this site. Problem: I push the power trunk button on the remote, I hear the relay click and test if there is a positive current coming out of the wire that connects to the trunk wire and there is but the trunk does not open? Still works with the switch no problem. Any ideas?

Lets see, 12 volts to 30 and 85, 86 from your output of your alarm, 87 to the trunk solenoid, right?

Most after market trunk poppers need to see + 12 volts to move the actuator. The trigger on your Crime stopper is negative (-) and the current is low. So you need to add a relay and connect it in the following procedure:

86 - (-) trigger from Crime Stopper Alarm

85, 87 - (+) 12 volts

30 - To trunk release switch or solenoid (+)

ok guys, thanks for all your help! You're gonna laugh. There was a diode taped into the wire harness for the relay not letting the power get to the trunk wire. I kept testing the connection on the plug but it was before the diode. I cut it out and POP! So thanks again for the info! Love the alarm/starter.
