Hey guys, I am hooking up a compustar 1W900FM-S to my dad's 2006 Tacoma. The Tacoma has ignition, second ignition, start, and second start. The compustar has ignition, start, and second ignition OR start. It is selectable. Can I get away with only hooking up one or the other? Without hooking up either, the car does not start. If I hook up the second start the car will start but there will be lots of warning lights on the dash until I turn the key to "on". Will the heater/AC work without 2nd ignition? Will there be any problems running this way? Any other ideas? Thanks, Tommy

If the second ignition isn't powered up, the heater won't work.
Without both starter wires powered, it won't start.
Two options:
--Permantenly jump the two starter wires together, and connect them both to the Compustar.........it's cheating, and it violates the original design of the car, but it would work.
--Power up the extra wire with a separate relay.....surely the Compustar's manual must have instructions for this.

"" We've tried this before and it won't work long term. I had an installer do it on a couple Camry's and a Tacoma, they all came back with blown AM1 fuses causing the shiftlock to not work. Some took a couple days to blow, others a few months, but they all came back. Use a relay... ------------- Mike M2

you should defintely use relays to activate both the extra circuits. mike m2 has had the same experience we have. speaking about the shiftlock isssue we also saw a problem with camrys when tagging the keysense wire. However we did have an 06 tacoma with a shiftlock problem after 30000 miles that was not related to the remote start....good ole toiletas
