If the system is new, you may have to program the remotes for it to work. Audiovox units also usually require you to press the Channel #2 button twice to activate the remote starter. There is also usually two switches for the unit. One is a programming switch and the other a valet switch. Make sure the valet switch is OFF. It shuts down the remote starter portion of the unit, but the keyless functions will still work.

I believe 5 flashes means the tach isn't learned. Either you didn't program it correctly or you haven't hooked up the right wire. The tach is a white wire on top of the coil...

RTFM!!!! if I remember correctly it's Ign. ON, press valet 3 times, turn key off, press and hold valet and start car with key, park lights will flash when tach is learned, release valet if lights stay on for 3 sec. tach is stored. Again RTFM!!!

Well I dont do them everyday but a couple a month wouldnt be an exageration. and Im looking ant the manual as I type this and I show option 7 is Diagnostics as option 7 and Input Check as option 4 with tach as the only option. So not to disagree with your extensive daily knowledge but the facts dont agree. hear is a link to the PDF version javascript:OpenWin('/manuals/installation/APS786_DOC_IM.pdf')

Setting tach is key on, valet 3 times, key off, press and hold valet, start car, lights will flash, release valet, lights stay on for 5 seconds, key off.

Setting to voltage will work, program step 4 even tho they don't list it toggle it to two chirps anyway. Do the correct install and use tach setting, it's safer and the right way to do it...
