Hey guys,
I just got a Subaru Impreza and I have located the factory keyless harness. I've tested each wire and determined what some of the wires do but I cannot get the alarm system to work with it. I know I require a negative out to the power door locks but the alarm system does not give out any current. Is there something wrong with the alarm? I tested the wire with the car's ground and the doors locks and unlocks but with the alarm system it just does not work. Also, I cannot seem to locate the parking light wire from the factory harness, would any one know what I can do about that?

It is a 2002 Impreza. I found the wire that does power locking when I connect it to a negative but the wire that sends a negative pulse does not cause the doors to look or unlock.
The door lock / unlock wires can be found in the white 20-pin connector at the ECU on the left side of the steering column.
Lock - RED / WHITE(-)
Unlock - YELLOW/RED(-)
Parking Lights - ORANGE(+) in main black harness at steering column.

Hey gonorio, try what Install_Tech gave you above for wires and if you still do not get a response from the alarm unit to activate the door lock/unlock, you may have to go straight to the motor. There was another idivdual here that has been having alot of trouble trying to put in a keyless entry unit into his 2002 Forester and chances are it's the same problem that all new Subaru's will have. You will not be able to activate the locks from the switch or from the keyless entry module on the driver side dash, only from the motor leg of the circuit. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this but it seems that no one ihas been able to bypass the locks by tapping into the keyless entry module or the switch. Let me know what happend so we can help anyone else who has a 2002 + Subaru

So you say that you've found two wires in the car. If you apply ground to one of the wires, the car locks. If you apply ground to the other wire, the car unlocks. Correct?
In that case, you have already found the correct wires in the car. There's no need to go fishing for them someplace else. Then, you say that you hook the lock/unlock outputs of your alarm to these wires, but it doesn't work. Correct?
In that case, there's nothing wrong with the car, or the two wires you found. Either your alarm is defective, or you've somehow wired it up incorrectly. What kind of alarm is it?
Parking lights: The tech info I have on that car shows it as a purple, positive trigger, at the switch or the fuse box. And you shouldn't need to rip apart the steering column to get directly to the switch; simply look in the bundle of wires coming from the steering column.
On the UK Subaru Impreza with remote locking, the cdl is single wire controlled.
Cut the wire to lock and neg pulse to unlock.
The wire is White with silver dots in the RH kick panel. ( RHD vehicle)
