Hey all, maybe its me itz late and I did 3 cars today. I installed a CA 670 in a 98 Honda Civic today and the alarm is working fine with the exception of the r/s. When the option to r/s is pressed it functions normally then just as it is about to start it triggers the alarm. Any suggestions, I'm stuck! Thanks...

I would go back and double check the door trigger wires . we had one recently that had a similar problem and it was traced back to the door triggers .

Which alarm was triggered ? The OEM or the Code Alarm one ?

Code alarm no factory alarm installed. I'll recheck the door triggers but they seem to be working fine. Thought it was the hood pin but i just checked that. Functions all the way up to attempt to start but when it clicks to try to start the car the alarm goes off and disables.

I somewhat recall some alarm a guy brought me when the r/s was triggered the alarm would go of but I later found ouf it was not "the alarm" but it was talkin to me telling me I had not programmed tach

I had the same problem with the Code Alarm on my 78 Trans Am. When I remote started the car with the alarm disarmed, everything was fine. When I remote started the car with the alarm armed, however, the it would trigger the alarm. After much troubleshooting, I came to the conclusion that the chirps from my siren when the car was being remote started triggered my glass break sensor. I programmed the siren not to chirp when remote started and everything works perfect now.

If its an "add-on" type RS check the ignition bypass. If you did not hook this up right you will have exactly the problem you mention, If not check if there is a "sensor bypass" built into the brain. Most newer remote starts should have this built in but it is a possibility that the vibration of the vehicle starting is triggering a shock sensor but my money lies on the ignition bypass. However for the last few years I have been using DEI products only so I could be wrong since I don't know the unit you have but basically they all wire and operate the same. Another possibility is voltage. If for some reason the vehicle starter current draw could be dropping the voltage to the brain low enough that it resets. I have seen poor grounds as well as power connections cause this. Let the meter do the troubleshooting since you can't see the voltage any other way . Put the probes directly into the power and ground in the harness at the brain. remote start the car and see what you read. If it is dropping too much trace down the poor connection and problem solved. Hope I helped thats all I have for now.

thanks all...i will try those i am thinking maybe its a power draw issue. As for the tach programming, it originally was flashing to indicate to learn the tach. I did that and all was looking good until attempt to start. Might also be something setting it off besides the trigger like the sensitivity. No clue yet...

Unplug the shock sensor and try it see if it triggers while you engage the remote starter. If it is any thing like the Audiovox units, the system doesn't bypass the Shock sensor while the car is remote started and the vibration triggers the shock sensor. Then if that is the case lower the shock sensor or interrupt the shock sensor wit a relay. Good luck keep us posted.

Alright...this is the deal aside from me being borderline retarded last nite directtechs had one listing for the yellow wire and 12 volt had another. I switched the wires, changed the ground and checked the voltage like suggested. There was a serious drop in voltage when attempting to remote start add in one battery from Advance Auto Parts and VOILA! Starts like a champ...thanx all for the help
