I have just installed an alarm in my '98 Tacoma and soldered all connections and insulated them with heat shrink. I'm just curious what method most of you use for alarms. I had one installer tell me that soldering is bad for sensitive electronics but the brain isn't even plugged in when you're installing so he must be confused. I searched this but didn't find too much. So, what do you all use? I guess this is kind of a poll.
1)t-taps & scotchloks
2)soldering
3)twisting/knots of various types
4)other?

Hey supra, I work for a car audio shop in NY and they do all there alarms and starters with T-taps...at school I learned that they are bad and all but most shops around here use them and they've worked pretty much trouble free for 2 decades and there really handy so I kinda like them. I would agree however that soldering is the BEST but how are you gonna reach some wires (like horn, brake) way up in the dash with a soldering iron?

Solder everything dude.....ask all manufacturs of systems.....they will tell you.
