Subject: remote start dei xcrs bad

A few weeks ago my dad was unable to start his car with the key, but the remote start worked. So the first thing I thought was to check the xcrs relay pack since I installed the python alarm myself. I had a second xcrs pack laying around since I removed my clifford rsx 3.5 from my old car. When I swapped out the packs everything worked just fine. Now I want to install my clifford into my car now. The python alarm was purchased from an authorized dealer but since it was an customer return and it was close to christmas they did not want to install it for free since it was discounted. Also since I have installed a few alarms and had a bad experence with an install place, I decided to do it myself. Is there any place to get a new xcrs pack since I dont think DEI will honor the lifetime warrenty since I installed it my self, or is it possible to fix the relay pack?

Thank You
Brian

is it just the starter relay that did not work you can just use a seperat relay for that. or can just use all seperat relays. severl palces sell the relay pack. but not cheap be beter off making your own.

No the relay pack could start the car and everything it was the ignition key would not work to start the car seems like its built in starter kill is bad or something. Could I use the xcrs for remote start and just add another relay for starter kill if so whats recommended for building a starter kill I have always used the built in ones or the premade ones. I know I need a diode but what is it called and can I get it at radio shack or do I need to go to another supply store for it.

Thanks
Brian

probably just the starter kill relay sticking... i've had that happen... bang on the relay pack and test it....not a permanent fix but i did this for a customer a year ago and his is still working fine... other than that go to any DEI dealer and ask to purchase just the relay pack.....

If the only thing is that you can't start the car with the key, that'd be easy. Either connect your own external starter kill, or you could just decide to live without kill/antigrind.
