 I have puchased a Directed 555G Passkey III module, I was looking at the wiring diagram yesterday and it look's pretty straight forward except I am wondering about one wire hook up. The direction shows the following;

Pink/black- Ignition (key side)          Purple -Data In/Out

Pink -Ignition (ECM Side)                Black -Ground

Red- +12 Volt Constant                    Green - Key Sense

I have the colors for everything except for the Green - key Sense can any one help me with that color for a 2000 OLDS SILHOUETTE?

Thanks

It is in the bundle of wires in the ign harness, thin lt. green wire. Shows 12v when the key is inserted it sows 0v.

So it shows 0 volts when the key is not in and 12 Volts when the key is in?      Thanks for the Reply   posted_image

Aw yes that works for me, hope to start this project this weekend and better bring my laptop with as I think I will have more questions. I am not a novice at these but I am not a pro either so it nice to have the extra help.

Thanks again.

Pretty easy to install on, I use the GMBP ignition bypass. I had the 555g trigger a security light on a montana which is the same platform as the silhouette.

so you did not wire the bypass into the ignition area?

Correct it works through the data wire in the diagnositc plug (purple wire)

I use the GM-SL for that vehicle, very straight forward, and easy to program, also taps into the data wire of the vehicle, no need for key sense or anything like that

Ok I just picked up my remote start unit Aolin AL-838SR, I am looking at the wiring diagram (not very good) and here is my first question (not my last one either)I have a yellow tracer wire that goes to a relay to the ignition coil and a Red tracer that goes to another relay to the fuel pump, these also conntect to (2) Brown tracer wires out of the unit, which all so connects to the "ON" on my key switch.  Keeping in mind that this will be installed in a 2000 oldsmobile silhouette, I thinking that these wires do not need to be installed

I figured that I don't have a "ON" on my key but I do have "OFF, ACC & Start".  I know this might not make sense (I could put the diagram on here) but I am trying to work this out before jumping in.  Am I right?

Post the wire diagram so it helps us understand what it says better.

Well I did not post the diagram for this unit as I ended up uninstalling the unit and sold it the very next day! I did not like the operation of the unit itself but an nice unit none the less, so I purchased a ProStart CT-3400 (TW) two-way remote unit from Canadain Tire and after 2 hours and some quick reading, I got the unit installed no problems (just read the manual before install, the programing needs to be done).

Thanks to everyone that help me along in this process posted_image
