I need some help with purchasing an appropriate security system for a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab Work Truck. This vehicle does not have keyless entry. Therefore, would like an alarm system with keyless entry and starter disable, remote start is not necessary. Also, for ease of installation, any modules for controlling the doorlocks (ie databus).

I also have two other vehicles I am needing info on, but will post separately.

Thanks.

Scott

I will make some suggestions.

I deal mostly with DEI products for remote starters and security with excellent results.

For your purposes I believe the Viper 3000 is the way to go. everything is "built in" and it has some new features such as the user can adjust the shock sensor sensitivity via the remote control.

This system does not utilize 2 way paging or remote start, hence a reasonable price. Replacement remotes will also be a heck of a lot more economical.

For even less money you can go for the 350hv, very similar but lacking the "updates". Check on the features for your final decision. It still will do everything you need, just in a different way.

As far as data bus interface, if your paticular truck is a "base model" you do not need the 457gw. You can use the 556LW or 555LW (according to dei) and it will simplify the keyless entry control with one wire on the obdII plug under the dash, and pick up the entry points for security without requiring diode isolation. basically a time saver.

Hope this helps.

master5..... being a DEI dealer (like myself) i'm sure you are aware that the 555L and 556L are passlock bypasses only and will not do keyless etc... since he stated he wasnt interested in R/S wouldnt it make more sense to suggest the 457G or the 456G etc?
