2005 elantra is the car.Anyway put in valet remote start the other day for a friend. All works fine but when I gave them the car back they asked me about the factory security system.I didnt even know the thing had one.It does has factory keyless entry but when you hit lock button 3 times it arms. What wires do I need to tap into to have the remote start do that as well as it does not right now. Also the diagram I found on here says factory alarm with remote only doesnt give a color wire or location thanks

your using the factory remotes?

The "factory" security is controlled only, with the factory remote!

The Hyundai alarm can ONLY be controlled by the factory remote. There are no wires available inside the car to arm or disarm.

Here are your three choices:

1. Stop using the factory remotes, and forget about having an alarm.

2. Stop using the aftermarket remotes to lock/unlock the car. Carry both remotes on the keychain........the original Hyundai one for the locks, and the aftermarket for starting the car.

3. Remove the remote start you installed, install an alarm/starter combo unit, and then you'll have alarm and start all on one remote.

I had a problem with my factory alarm when I got my aftermarket RS/alarm installed. There isnt a way to bypass it becuase its built into the giant relay box under the dash. All you have to do is unplug the factory alarm siren and it disables it.

To add another option to Chris's choices above...

Take apart a factory remote. Find the contacts on the circuit board that get joined together when you press Lock or Unlock. Wire in a couple relays that join the two contacts together when you press Lock or Unlock on the aftermarket remote.

Bypasskits.com used to sell a device that did something like this. I just checked there website and didn't see it anymore. They probably didn't sell enough, and discontinued it.

I haven't used this method, but I have heard of others that have done it.
One downside is, you will have to replace the battery in the remote every couple years.
