I have heard that an RF proximity sensor will not work well with window tint due to the metal in the tint? I would like to install a DEI 805D proximity sensor in my Jeep Cherokee but I have 5% tint behind the driver's seat and 35% on the front side windows. I currently have a DEI Python 700 security system installed in the car.

Not all film is metalized, some are dyed. What type of film do you have and model also.

hmmm, i couldnt really tell you... But if it is metalized it will definitely mess with the RF motion sensor?

Its possible, I have only installed a few 508d. 1 was on car that had metalized film all the way around inc. windshield, no problems to date.

would it be best to just set the proximity sensors to be just inside the windows w/o having the warning outside the windows?
I mean, I really have no clue, but I'm the kind of guy that likes playing with doodie just to see what happens, so i might get it.
Is it possible to turn off the sensor with a switch somehow? So if I didn't need it on I could put a switch under the dash or something? Or if I leave the dog in the car she wont set it off...?
