Did an autostart on an 02 camry.

however when the vehicle's ignition is on the doors will not stay locked.

So when you remote start the vehicle, it will start, run for about 10 seconds then the doors will unlock.

It also does it if you sit in the car, start the vehicle with the key and lock the doors, the doors will wait 10 seconds then unlock.

Is there a way to get around this. I have gone into the manual and disabled "autolock" In drive gear feature, which disabled it from locking when the vehicle was put in drive, but it still unlocks when you remote start.

assuming you have the lock/unlock wires correctly wired up, have you put the remote starter in double pulse unlock mode? Also, if I remember right, there was something about child safety locks on those cars.

disconnect your doorlock plug from the r/s and see if the problem persists... sounds like you have the lock/unlock reveresed and have the ign controlled doorlock feature programmed on....

Even if I disconnect the lock and unlock wires, the vehicle will still do it (IE: Remote start vehicle with doors locked, then the vehicle runs for about 5 seconds and unlocks the doors.
So it is not a remote start issue, it is a "if the vehicle runs it will unlock the doors for the reason of not leaving keys in car running while locked"

That is really strange.

How about the door-ajar light, the domelight, and the illumination ring around the key cylinder-----are any of those lit up while the doors are closed?

Toyotas will automatically unlock, if you try to lock the door with the ignition on and a door open...........it's possible you nicked or shorted a wire causing the car to "think" there's an open door..........

however, that still wouldn't be a full explanation----you'd need the door-ajar circuit shorted, AND the car trying to lock itself first.

How and where have you connected the doorlocks?

Have you connected your "factory disarm" or "factory re-arm" to anything in the car?

Nope,  did not connect factory arm or disarm wires.
I hooked into the white and blue connectors in the drivers kick panel (using the astrostart program for wire location) The door locks work great, just the issue with camry not wanting to stay locked while the ignition is on.

does it do this when you sit inside and start it with the key?  if not, then you definately have something hooked up wrong.... we do dozens and dozens of Toyotas here and i have never run into that before.....

That's great that you went to the white and blue connectors....... but which wires?

Yes, it does this when you sit inside the vehicle with the key. Basically you sit down (with out the doorlock and unlock wires hooked up. Start vehicle with key, press the lock button on the side door, vehicle locks then after about 5-10 seconds unlocks. So we know its not a remote start issue Its a factory option thats doing this.

usually on the toyotas, if the door is open, the locks show this kind of behavior. Its a safety option so you dont lock your keys in your car. I am not sure however about why its locking then unlocking once you sit in the car again, especially with the wires from the remote starter not hooked up at all.

When you are sitting in the vehicle with the key in the ignition and locking the doors, are all the doors closed or is one or more open?
