I am looking at the diagram from directwire and it states it is only necessary to run a negative status output from remote start to keysense wire to disarm the factory alarm. And that the alarm will disarm with unlock. The model I am working on is a 06 avalon xls, it is loaded and it does have factory alarm. I did a search but did not see an answer to this. My reason for this question is that wire magic is stating I must go into the drivers door for this car and add relays/diodes. Any insight on this one, I have not installed on a avalon with the factory alarm until now. Thanx...........

I have it hooked up it will start with key but it appears ignition bypass isn't working to hot when started off of remote start only it will run for 10 sec than shut down.

If it remote-starts and runs for 10 seconds, it isn't the bypass. The transponder only comes into play when the ignition is first turned on......after that you could toss the bypass out the window and the car would keep running.

If it's shutting down after 10 seconds.......... if using voltage sense, voltage threshold probably set too high.........if using tach, wrong tach wire, or tach rate not programmed.

Not sure if this gonna make sense, when the car was started with the key then shut off, it would remote start and shut off after 10 seconds, but on the third attempt it would just crank. I figured out the problem I had was a the antenna ring got pinched and was not working.  The absolute last thing I checked, my luck. Not a bad  car to work on, Chris can the air bag under the column be unplugged while doing this? I had the battery disconnected but we left the air bag in as my technician said he was under the impression that it could cause problems by unplugging it.

There's really no reason to, the airbag harness is long enough to reach the floor. I just drop it and push it foward, gives me plenty of room. Unplugging the bag and flipping the ignition on will light it up, my bet is a trip to the dealer would be in order after that....

Thats the way  I have done them in the past, do you disconnect the battery when you unbolt them and lay them on the floor or leave it connected? I was leary and disconnected the battery.

Just wanted to make sure, I have heard it hurts to get hit in the face with an air bag.
