I am installing an audiovox APS 997 in 4 cylinder camry. There are two +12V wires at the ignition switch. The first one is protected by a 30A and the second one is protected by 5A factory fuse. The remote starter manual recommends to use two separate +12V sources (each protected at 30A). I looked at the factory wiring diagram. Can anyone confirm if I can connect those two remote starter wires to one factor wire providing constant 12V. Other than the standard remote starter I'll be using two relays ( one for trunk relase and second for isolating the 2nd starter wire). Can I connect all this to a single 30A source. In addition does anyone know if factory trunk solenoid draws more than 5 amps? If it draws less than 5 amps, I can connect the trunk solenoid relay to the white +12V wire at ignition switch, but since that wire is fused at 5A I don't want to blow the fuse if the trunk release draws more than 5A. I plan to do the installation tomorrow. I'll appreciate if anyone can give me some idea if I am on the right track.
The one protected by 30 amp should be white and red use it to power everthing. Iwouldnt use the 5 amp wire.
Exactly, connect the red and RED / white 12v battery wires on the Avox together and connect that to the WHITE/ red in the igntion harness. That 30a is plenty to rune the entire system. Don't use the 5a white wire at all...
O yea, make sure you 5 wire the trunk relay. A postive pulse alone will blow a fuse as it rests at ground...
