How many programmed keys do you have? You can only program up to 10? keys off the ignition if the car was bought used the previuos owner may have gone through keys. Have you verified the remote start works? ie put a programmed key in the ignition and remote start it.

The bulletproof way would be a 556U. Buy a spare key on Ebay, Ace hardware will cut it for free, and program it yourself....

The car was bought used and have no idea of wether more than ten keys have been programmed on thas car,  and if that was the case what could be done about it?

The remote estarter works with the key in the ignition like you said it!

If it works in the igntion then it must work with a 556U because it's using that very same key to start. It simply doesn't matter how many keys are programmed to the car. Some choices...

You haven't installed the key in the box.

You haven't hooked up power and gound correctly.

You haven't connected the blue statis wire to your RS correctly.

You haven't got the ring close enough to the key cylinder.

The 556U is defective.

Put your hand around the 556U when you RS the car. You should feel it clicking inside. If not, you have a power or stais problem. If it is, it's connected correctly and you need to look at other problems. Confirm again that the key in the box starts the car. Take the ring and place it directly around the cylinder, holding it closed a little more than the way it comes.

We were told by directed to switch to the newer 1100F with the Fords. It requires no key. You will just need your two keys to program the 1100F but that's it. We just installed one today and it seems to be working great. The 1100F will flash green 3 times if it was programed correctly. You can also test your system by disconnecting any bypass and then leave a key in the ignition when you remote start. It should remote start but if it doesn't then you have issues other places. If the bypass is still connected then make sure that no key is in the ignition when you test it or it won't start.

keep in mind y'all that a 556S is simply a 556U with a blank key already in the box.........
