Subject: Lost power for Constant 12v

I was installing a Viper 791xv on 2004 Camry and was following the manul to install a relay for trunk release. Sth maybe wrong with my wiring , when I pressed the remote, I only heard a switch connected sound from relay and nothing happen to my trunk release and now I lost power of constant 12v on ignition harness, which is also the power of  791xv. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my power? I can still release my trunk with factory remote and listen cd but can not start my car. No power now.

Many thanks!!

Sounds like you fried the fuse supplying your constant hot for the ignition harness. Check the power distribution box, normally located under the hood.

Your are right, checked the fuse under the hood and found the 8th one was blowed out.  Thanks.

Make sure you fix the short that caused it to blow in the first place before replacing the fuse, as it will just blow again unless repaired.

What is most likely happening is a trunk solenoid takes quite a bit of power to pop and that ignition harness wire is not substantial enough to supply it, best bet would be to get the power off the battery fused of course and a proper gauge wire. Had the same problem with a Scion Xb and just ran a 12 or 14 gauge wire from the battery for constant.
