Howdy all-

I recently purchased 2 VRBCS300W reverse cameras and am trying to figure out how to wire them without using the reverse light, since I want to use one in the front of my truck also.  They are 12VDC cameras requiring you to wire them in parallel to your reverse light.  Here is the wiring diagram: https://www.roadmasterusa.com/manuals/vrbcs300w_eng.pdf

Not sure if anyone has any feedback on this, or what resistors I could use for the load...

Thanks.

Should be simple enough looking at that diagram...Just run the red wires to a 12V power source, probably an ignition wire so the come on and stay on while the car is running, then just ground the black leads to the chassis...

Oh, By the way, Dont use scotch-locks or t-taps, Splice the wire directly and solder if you can!

That is what I figured from the simple schematic, but I wired it into my spare 4 wire  trailer plug and (power to running lights) and that didn't do it...

That will only enable the camera to work when your running lights are on...

Ideally, you don't want the camera ON whenever the truck is ON. The camera will burn out quicker that way.

Connect the red wire to an ignition wire, connect the blue wire to an ignition wire but through a toggle switch, ground the black wire.   When the toggle switch is ON, the camera turns ON. Its that simple.

Did you meter the wires you tapped into? A better description of what you connected your wires to would help us.

Thanks for the replys.  There is no toggle line for the camera, only +/-  I initially wired it up to my spare 4-pin trailer hitch; with power on the running lights line and ground on ground.  In the schematic they want it wired in parallel with the light bulb, so maybe I should use a relay?
