hey guys,

i've installed a number of alarm/remote starts that use an aftermarket keyfob with good success. this is my 1st time installing a system that uses the factory keyfob. i cannot get the (-) activation input of the brain to properly read the door lock wire (pink/black at the MICU). i know i have the correct doorlock wire because if i ground it, it will lock the doors. the rest of the remote start is hooked up properly because if i ground the activation input twice, it remote starts the vehicle.

- i read some posts and am i supposed to use a diode and relay on this pink/black wire to get the proper operation? if so, can you walk me through how to make the connections?
- is there a better wire to obtain that will give me a solid ground signal only when i press the lock on the keyfob?

That's not the right wire.

You want the "lock motor" wire. The one that makes a positive pulse when locking the doors.

And I think the 561T has a way to re-program it to accept a positive pulse, or else there is a separate postive-activation-input wire.

You do realize that the factory remote is disabled when the car is running, right? The customer might not be pleased when they figure out they'll have to open the door manually with their key.

TECH TIP: You're going to use two pulses to activate the RS, right?

Instead of telling the customer to press "Lock, Lock"........ tell them to use "Unlock, Lock, Lock.)

Then you can get away without having to hook up factory disarm. When the customer presses "unlock", the factory alarm will disarm, and the remote starter will kick in before it has time to re-arm again.

chris, i thought about the unlock, lock, lock technique but i went ahead and just tapped into the disarm wire before it was too late.

i kept metering until i found a positive trigger and it happened to be a yellow/black wire at the fusebox. the 561t has both a (-) and (+) activation input which are 2 separate wires.

yes, i told him that it would disable his factory keyfob when the car was remote-started. he was really interested in using his factory keyfob to remote start though so it was ok with him.

unfortunately, i completed the entire install before i got your post. i hope it will help others in the future though. thanks.

i am having one last problem with the ridgeline. it will not allow me to start it with the key only. i get a blinking green key on the dash.

i can remote start it and then turn it over to the key and they drive. any ideas guys?

What did you use for a transponder bypass?

i used a DEI 556u. i hooked up power, ground, and the blue wire to the ground during remote start wire and the keysense wire at the ignition.

hmmm, i think i got it. do i need to wire up a diode inline with the keysense wire so that if i put the key in the ignition, it will prevent the 556u from triggering and sending a key signal. the 2 "keys" at the same time is probably preventing it from starting.

i think i need to wire up the diode with the anode on the keysense wire and the cathode going to the ground during remote start?

Keysense shouldn't be necessary on a Honda. Just power, ground, and ground-when-running should do it for the 556U.
