I have been having a problem that I think relates to the security system.  I have a wire that I think is broken to the drivers side door lock.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not.  Twice in the past week, when I try to start it, after it is at full operating temp, it starts and runs very rough, like it is running out of gas.  Indeed it does run out of gas, the fuel pump does not come on.  Reading on the net, others have had this happen, and say that the security locks the fuel pump out.  #1, if this happens again, is there a way to reset the security system, instead of letting it sit for hours? (takes two to three hrs)  #2  Can I disarm or turn off the system?  One forum that I read had the poster ground the purple wire with a yellow stripe, that is found behind the drivers side kick pannel.  Said it would disable the system.  Anyone heard of this?  Any repercussions?  #3  If the answer is to repair the lock wiring, then would you try to find a new wiring harness, or cut into the old and repair it.  The break I thikn is in the section between the door and body, sometimes I can press or pull on that section and the lock will work.  The lock usually works when the door is closed.  Thanks!

Hmm.

Since you are pretty sure it is a break in the wire, I would go ahead and repair it---should be easy.

I would take off the door panel, and fish a new wire from the door into the car........cut the old piece of wire and add the new one........making one connection inside the door, and another one inside the car.

If you simply make the repair inside the door boot, it will flex a lot and probably break again.

But, I don't think this is the cause of your engine problem.

Once the factory alarm is disarmed, it stays disarmed until you arm it again.

When the wire from your door is having a "bad day" and isn't making a connection, when you try to open the door with the key, the factory alarm should sound when you open the door.

If the factory alarm does not sound when you open the door, it is already disarmed.

Chris,  There is a connector at the door, I there is s torx head screw that holds the wiring block to the door. the wire apears to be broken about two to three inches from the connector, at least that is all the wire that there is.

I can live with the lock problem, do you have any idea why the fuel pump would be shutting down, and how to work around that?  Something is cutting power to it, and from what I have read, it points to the security system.
