Hello all,

I just am working on a 2004 Mazda Rx8, I am finished with the install, doing a remote start. Using an Ultrastart 4256. I need a tach reference for this remote start. I am having a heck of a time getting it to program. I tried all 4 non black wires off the coils (one on each coil) and cannot get a reference to program. The ultrastart has a LED in the antenna, when it gets a good tach, it turns solid. It starts to flicker as I rev the engine and about 4000 rpm, it becomes a solid reference. However, I cant program this car with a 4000 rpm. The idle RPM signal is just too low for the Ultrastart to pick up. I am VERY frustrated as DEI units have an extra switch for this, but I had to use this Ultrastarter because it is a manual tranmission remote start and it is a manual.

Does anyone have any advice? How can I boost the signal on the tach? What do you think about that DEI unit that works off the Alternator and feeds a tach?

Help

Can you just go directly to a fuel injector? Directechs lists;
Tachometer NOT blk/wht, blk, or wht/blue any ignition coil or fuel injector

I didnt see the fuel injector, rotary engine, could be in a hard to get area. I doubt the Ultrastart since it cant even see a low tach will read the injector.

It will read the injector but it does not perform well off of them. Trust me I've tried. Compustar can run off the generator lead and has a model that is manual safe. Have you tried running it tachless? If its a tl model I would give it a shot.
