Hey thanks for checking out my post. I have a few questions i would like to know for sure before i get started on installing my alarm. I have a 1998 Cavalier with keyless entry i am planning on installing a Avistart 6500 i have a Directed 555L Passlock bypass.

#1 this is a Passlock 1 system correct?

#2 the door locks are positive trigger do they require relays? the avistart install manual shows no relays needed for Pos. trigger locks BUT shows they are needed for Pos. trigger two-stage locks any ideal if these are single or dual stage?

#3 i read in a post elsewhere that a second ignition wire needs to hooked up for the remote start because it has something to do with the transmission and could possibly damage the transmission if this wire is not hooked up is this correct?

#4 any other help that would be useful would be greatly appriecated to help me get started in the right direction.

Just want to make sure that i have everything in order before i start.I installed a Avistart 6000 on my Kia sportage with no problems went nice and smooth (the 6000 itself is very similar to the 6500 looks like a different harness thats about it) but did not have a passlock system never messed with one of these but it doesn't seem like much of a problem.

Thanks for any help and input

Yes, it is a passlock 1,   If the rs does not have built in relays for the door locks you should put them in.. [most do now] and yes they are pos. trigger if you have keyless entry other wise it would be a rev polarity [2 stage ?] And yes, do hook the 2nd ign wire up also.. the car is pretty basic from there.. The tach I use is in the harness over the tranny.. white..Good Luck

YES THAT CAR DOES HAVE PASSLOCK I IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN INTERFACE FOR THAT SYSTEM IT CAN GET KINDA TRICKY CAUSE IF YOU TRIP THE ANTI THEFT IT WILL GO INTO LONG TAMPER MODE AND THE CAR WILL NOT START FOR 10-15 MINUTES. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MODULE TO BYPASS IT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION. AS FAR AS THE LOCKS GO THE OUTPUTS ARE DUAL POLARITY ONCE ONE WIRE PULSES POSITIVE THE OTHER PULSES NEGATIVE AND VICE VERSA YOU WILL NEED TO LOOK IN THE MANUAL TO SEE WHICH PULSES POSITIVE LOCK OR UNLOCK. EITHER WAY YOU DO NOT NEED RELAYS WORST CASE THEY WOULD BE HOOKED UP BACKWARDS NO DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. YES THE SECOND IGN WIRE MUST BE HOOKED UP. IF THE REMOTE START DOES NOT HAVE A SECOND IGN WIRE YOU MUST USE A RELAY HERE IS THE PIN ASSIGNMENT    85 STATUS OUTPUT OF THE REMOTE START  86 AND 87 ARE FUSED 12VOLTS AND 30 GOES TO THE SECOND IGN WIRE OF THE CAR.
