I did an install on my prelude a few years back, and the DEI alarm simply hooked up the 2 door lock/unlock wires directly to the prelude, and all worked fine (i believe both prelude wires were (-) pulse). With the odyssey 2004, both show (-) pulse.. do i just connect the wires directly as i did in the prelude? Also, do the dei systems still allow direct connection, or do relays have to be used now? i think my old system was a Viper 500HF, and allowed direct connection..

thanks!
dax.

I would use the outputs from your unit to trigger relays....be safe that way.

Some of the guys here on the 12volt will tell you otherwise, but I like to do it strong and proper.

The wires you tap into to lock/unlock the vehicle are wires that trigger relays. Adding another set of relays is pointless. You just end up with a relay triggering another relay.

To the original poster. you can connect the wires directly. No relays needed.

thanks guys... i kinda thought they would still have it the same... on a couple models of dei, it specifically states when you require a relay on the wire (such as second output and so on)

Jworm is 100% correct, another set of relays makes no sense. One part of the problem with this site is that there are people who dont know all there is to know about Alarm, r/s giving out advice.
