Help!!!

I have a coouple of problems that I have ran into on a install of a remote start to an 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

1. Tachometer -  The sheet from DEI says "On the 4.0L usa any of the tan/stripe wires at the coil pack, or go to one of the fuel injector and use the wire that is NOT dk. GREEN/ lt. green.  Ok I did this to a (WHITE/ blue wire of an injector) the 851T remote start won't allow me to teach it that signal.  I looked all over and can find the coil pack.  Any recommendations????

2. Neutral Safety Switch - I can not find the location of this switch or wire any where.

Thanks to any and all who help!!!

For the Neutral Safety Switch wire it's on the transmission or you can hit it at the PCM, I think it's BROWN / yellow.... I think? You'll have to check and test. It's common to just put a toggel switch in that wire from the R/S and ground it. That becomes the master on / off switch. As for the tach check the wire you used from the 851t and the hookup at the the fuel injector, it should work. If it still isn't working check the programming of the 851t it might not be setup for tach, it could be set to read volts and or crank time.

Is the PCM located under the center consule?

Thanks for all the help BTW.

Also, i can not find a definate answer any where in the manual or online so I will ask:

I did find that the module is default to voltage check, I would like to change this to tach instead.  I do have a feature menu, but to put the unit is program mode do I:  1.) Turn key to ignition, 2.)Turn key off, 3.) Press and hold the valet button, until I get solid LED, 4.)Press valet button to feature number, 5.)Use channel 1 or 2 to select option.  This was what I could get from several sites, is it right on or close to the correct programming instructions? Also if I choose to go with the voltage select instead, would I just hook this wire up to constant or what?

Thanks again.

I see that for the parking lights I need to run this through a 1300 ohm resistor, where is a good place to find this item?  I checked radio shack and all they had was 1500 ohm, any idea were I can find one in the next couple days?  Does it have to be 1300 ohm to work correctly or will 1500 ohm work?

I have found a ton of help on this forum, this is pretty awesome!  But I have a couple remaining questions:

1.  I found that the Hornet 851T model is the same as the DEI 551R, I am installing a 851T in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  The manual for the 551R shows a internal programming jumper for the tach, if I switch the unit to tach mode do I need to mess w/ this jumper?

2.  I am hooking up a 555CW (immobilizer bypass) with the unit also. From what i gather I should hook this up to the (blue) status output, set to normal status opeation in the program?

3.  I found that for the parking lights I need to power through a 1300 ohm resistor.  I am having a hard time finding a 1300 ohm resistor, does this have to be exactly 1300 ohm, if so any ideas where I can get one, say tomorrow?

Thanks to all for help!

you dont need a 1300 ohm resistor. You can use 2 650's and wire them inline. 2nd you can leave that jumper alone. In this car just set the crank time to longer. In the 04 jeeps they will cut the crank off immediatly after starting so you dont have to worry about the start over cranking. And for the 555c leave the programming alone for that in the 851 and just hook it up to tyhe blue wire.
