several problems:

1. The 591xv will not recognize the remote.  The package the remote came in had a note in it that the remote was not synced to the unit.  The learn routine in the installation guide is not helpfull.  How do I get the remote to talk to the unit?

2.  Is there a way to reset the unit in case I have unintentionally programmed something wrong?

3.  There is a WHITE/ blue wire in H1/3 that is labled (-) remote start activation input.  The directions do not indicate where to connect this wire.  Page 14 of the instructions shows a momentary contact switch to ground but it doesn't make sense and there is no switch in the box.  Where does this wire go?

4.  I cannot get the 457gw interface to program the way it is described in the instructions.  It will not learn the passlock II so it can be bypassed.  It does control all 4 door locks for the automatic lock/unlock when the ignition is turned on or off.

In reading other postings I noticed that several people were having the same issue with the Passlock II wiring to the 457gw unit.  Several replies said that the unit interfaces with the vehicle data buss and does not connect to the yellow wire at the key.  They also suggested putting a diode in the ground to the unit.  I did those two things and then the 457 unit did program as described in the installation instructions and the 591xv unit also came to life and recognized the remote.  The system is now working great.

I still would like to know about the WHITE/ blue wire in the H1/3 plug.  The system is working now and this wire is not connected but I would still like to know what it is supposed to do and if it should be connected.

that is if you have it hooked to the factory remote to start the car. not needed in your case. you could put a momentary push button switch to it and ground the other half and then hide the button in the truck to start it without the remote or key.

I have a Viper 591XV with a DEI 457GW security/lock module on an 04 GMC Sierra 4 door.  2500HD crew cab.

The security light on the dash comes on steady when I start the truck with the key.  It stays on whenever the key is on until I start the truck with the remote start.  When I start with the remote, turn the key and hit the brake to disengage the remote the light does not come on.

I connected a code reader to the truck and it indicated that there are no codes stored in the computer.

Anyone know how to correct this problem?

How did you wire up the 457GW ? Need wire pinouts to each connection. Chances are you have the module hooked up wrong .

thats the wrong connecting the gray black is suppose to see the possitive door trigger or ignition for pk3 but in youre case hook it up to youre possitive domelight output under the dash and then the green wire connects to the green wire on youre viper

Thanks mauri197, the Viper 591xv is a door locks/remote start version of the 791xv.  It does not have an associated alarm system so the grey/black and the green wires on the DEI 457GW aren't needed.

Thanks to truckman for your september 5, 2006 posting concerning the security light problem.  I took the negative battery terminal off and went to lunch.  When I came back and connected the battery the system re-booted and the security light reset.  No light on with either remote start of key start anymore.
