I am installing a crimestopper rs900v on my grandmothers car. It is a 1992 buick lesabre. Does anyone know if I need any additional relays to install this unit. I am using the remote starter out of her old car, this is why I am using this unit. I just want to make sure that I have all the needed info and equipment before I start the install. I installed this same unit in my truck last week and it seemed easy enough in that but I think that this buick has a factory alarm that needs bypassed and maybe some other issues. Thanks in advance.

So according to the DEI information I will need to buy an immobilizer bypass ( VATS model# 652t) Is this correct? This looks like the only additional item that I may need to do the install. Any recommendations on where I can pick up one of these bypass units? If you see anything else I should be aware of please advise me. Thanks again!  Jeremy

The VATS is the chip in the key. Right?

The black pellet in the body of the key is a resistor. You can use a resistor of the same value and a relay to introduce it into the circuit during remote start.

ok so I bought the DEI 652t resister kit. How can I tell what the value in the key is so I can match it? Thank. I took awhile but finally got to this one.

If you don't want to get into resistor color codes and stuff....just take your multimeter, put it to ohms, and lay it across the little pellet in the key. Make sure you don't touch the leads of the meter or anything, and get a steady reading.

Next, find a resistor with the same (or close) resistance as the pellet.

I really don't want to get into the next step, as it's hard to explain without diagrams, but here's a link that will help you a lot.

You will need one relay to build that circuit. The easy part is that one of the 15 resistors in your kit will be the right value. It doesn't have to be exact, but it will be pretty close.
