2002 olds aurora ignition switch

Does anyone out there know the easiest way to get to the ign. switch for remote starter install on this make and model?

Oh man, that's a lot of fun. I just did one of those cars a couple of weeks ago.

Well, to start with, it's really fast and easy to remove the center dash trim, radio, and climate control panel........that'll let a little more light in there.

The center dash panel is real wood. Don't pound on it too hard with your hand when reinstalling it, or you'll learn the hard way what happens to the wood.

Anyway, if you first take off the lower dash panel, and lay down on your back and look up there with a good light...........if you have a long, thin, hook-shaped to (or maybe a flat screwdriver), you can manipulate the little clips to get the plugs undone, and then you'll be able to pull all of the ignition wires down toward the driver's floor where you can work.

Since you won't be able to test the wires when they're unplugged, you'll have to work extra carefully. There are several orange wires there-----the ones that have constant power are obviously your constants.......the other one is accessory.

Again, you don't have to remove the radio, but it only takes a few minutes, and it does allow more light to get in there, so you can see what you're doing when you try to undo those little clips.

Pull the entire center console area.....much easier, plus you'll learn. It's an easy yank.
