Ok did an autostart on a 1998 chevy lumina sedan, the remote start worked fine for about a week but now the customer can't start the vehicle with the key in the ignition.

So i pulled the bypass kit and resodered the vats wire that I cut into and now the vehicle won't start with the key.

I put key in the ignition and turned it to the run position and let it sit for 20 minutes. Pulled the key out, put the key back in and tried to start it, nothing....

Any ideas?

Does it crank over? Does the security light flash when trying to start it?

i would check the fuses under the hood. i bet one is blown...

this one still has the pellet on the key correct

read the resistance of the key. put key into lock cylinder and turn on, pull the connector at the bottom of the dash where it plugs into the purple and WHITE/ black wires. read the resistance there. Does it read the same? If not it is probably the lock cylinder contacts. Double check the key to make sure the metal tabs are still exposed outward.

Get another key and try it if it is in better shape.

Another thing did it start fine with the remote start still? once remote started they should be able to put key in and turn on and go as normal. they just can not start with the key right?
