Subject: AstroStart 2205 Brain w/ 4204 Remote?

I have come across a couple of previous installs where a person has used the 2205 brain and wiring, but just programmed a 4204 remote to it. Is there problems with this? They both use the same wiring and antenna. The only difference between the two that I know of is the remote and some programmable features. Is there any kind of a range problem that can occur or any other problem for that matter with doing this? I have never done this, but I could see doing it in an emergency or something. Any input is appreciated.

On the old 2205u the 4204 remote will work fine, on the new 2205a the 4204 remote will not work. I havn't tried it with a new 4204 or if they even revamped the tx/rx on a 4204 unit. the remote that has green and red buttons will work fine...

yes, I figured that much. I also havn't tried a new 4204 remote with the new 2205a model. Considering that the new 4204 still looks exactly the same as the "old" 4204, I'm thinking the new 4204 remotes wouldn't work with the 2205a, just the 2205u....who knows?
