Subject: remote starter, 1999 diesel suburban

Greetings.

I am about to install a 'pro start' keyless remote to a 1999 diesel suburban.

1.  Should I have any reason to reconsider this install or is it pretty straight forward?

2.  Can anyone give me some practical tips or wiring diagrams to expedite the job?

3.  I have heard of a 'BCM'  what is this & do I need to make use of it?

4.  Do I need a GM bypass passlock for this install?

5.  Are there any other words to the wise?

Thank you for your help & advice in advance.

to answer some of the questions, the install is pretty basic if you have had any experience installing

cause the truck is diesel you need to hook up the wait to start wire, this wire will tell the remote starter to start the truck when that light goes out on the dash, you also need to hook up the 2nd ignition wire in the vehicle or there could be some problems

the bcm in your application will not be needed as there are no wires there that you need

yes you do need a bypass for this vehicle

other people will add some of there info

Thank you.

If anyone can point me to a wiring diagram for the '99 GMC diesel Suburban I would be grateful!

thank you again!

I have a 555U    Universal Transponder anti-theft bypass.  Can I use it on the '99 GMC diesel Suburban?

No, you need a passlock II bypass. PLJX,PLXR, 555lw, GMBP are to name a few.

Thanks.

Does anyone hesitate to use the 'pro start' remote starter?  I spoke with an installer yesterday who will only use 'viper' remote start.

Thank you for your comments in advance.
