I am new here, so before i get started with the questions i'd just like to say HI! :)

First off the installers seem to have done a real nice job, everything looks to be in order... i have a few questions about it though... number one when i lock the car, is there anyway to make the alarm chirp twice like it does when i unlock it? (i like the double chirp sound for both lock and unlock if possible) Secondly i also wanted to know how to get the doors to lock when the car is started, and unlock when its turned off... Thanks!

not sure if you can get it to double chirp on lock, I doubt it, and for the programming question I can't answer it off by heart, but yes you can do that

you want ignition controlled locking and unlocking right

you can get the double chrip but i beleive you'll need a bitwritter to do so....

You could program the ignition locking by yourself with the programming button by following the steps in the manual. If you have a bitwriter you could do it with it too..

the 791 with ignition locks on does not lock the doors when remote starting the car.

you can hook the factory disarm wires to it if you want to they are neg outputs either wire direct or use relays to convert polarity

Turn the ignition ON than OFF agian.
Press and hold the valet button until the system chirp once.
Release button.
Press button 3 times.
Than press and hold button until system chirp three times.
Press and hold button again.
While holding it, press lock button on remote for one chirp.
Release valet button.
Wait a few seconds and the system will confirm with a short siren.

That's it.
Remember, door must be open.

Press once again for one chirp.
Two chrips turns it off.
One chirp turns it on.

ok i got it to work, but my door is being wierd.. sometimes when i close it and activate the alarm it beeps like the door is open still (the indicator light on the dash is NOT on) any idea why that might be happening?

also i noticed in menu 3 in the installation manual there is an option for "activation pulse count" either 1 or 2, if i set that on 2 wouldnt it make the same sound it does when unlocked instead of just a single beep when locked?

is one door open? do you have a dmm to check to see if all is operating right? will the installer reprogram it and see what happens?

it only seems to happen every now and then.. it hasnt happened the last few times...

ok i've tried to get it to do it again, but it hasnt done it so maybe it was just a hiccup..?

anyway took it to the installer and they said it isnt possible for them to make it chirp twice at arm instead of once. kind of disappointing... i was looking at the whole dome light ignition thing, what does that do exactly? it sounds like maybe it keeps the dome light on for a certain amount of time or something? can someone explain that to me..?

I read on the siren box that you can make the arm/disarm chirp louder by cutting the black wire on the siren.., but is it the only black wire there? i dont want to cut the wrong one and have to resplice... and also, it says to cut the wire as close to the siren as u can, but what if i wanted to reconnect it at some point? would it be ok to leave enough there to splice it back together if i had to?

you can leave the wire long if you want. just cutting the wire at all makes the siren louder.

Thank you all

ok that worked, its louder and i can actually hear it now.. thanks!

ok i figured out what the deal is.. the installer said he used the door pins, but the car says the door is open if i try to arm it before the interior lights go out, but if i wait for the lights to go out then arm it, it always works... anyway to fix that? its not a real big deal, but if its an easy fix why not?

i noticed my installer made the siren face up.. i thought they were always supposed to face down to keep water out? is it going to cause a problem or am i ok?

i just had the 791xv installed and i am finding the range to be a little less than what i need, i read on here that all i need from the 5900 for the extended range is the remote/antenna/brain and that all the wiring for my current 791xv will plug into the new brain etc. Now first off is that absolutely true? i dont want to buy this and find out that it wont work... and also is it worth it?

I got the window rollup/down (part number 530T) installed with the 791xv and my windows seem a little odd now, if i push the button to put them down the window just keeps going down, but if i push it to make the windows go up they just go straight up.. i am doing this from inside the car NOT using the remote, i cant control my windows at all are they supposed to be like this or is there a way to adjust them?

If you press a window button in either direction for less than a second the window will go all the way in that direction. If you only want to lower/raise the window about 4 inches, you have to hold it for a couple seconds. Its kinda tricky to just move a window an inch in either direction. You need to tap the window switch twice real quick. The second tap stops the window from going all the way.

ohh ok so if i want complete control i just hold it down or up? and its supposed to be like that?

2 more questions... first to kgerry, you say the connections are the same, does that mean everything will be the same such as the window up/down thing and the trunk pop? and second i was thinking of also adding another horn, if i do that logic says it will be twice as loud as it is now, is that right or would it just split the power that one is given?
