door pin not triggering alarm

I just installed an alarm on my 07 Toyota Yaris. This is the first alarm system I have ever installed, but I consider myself to be competent with wiring.

The problem is that opening the doors does not trigger the alarm.

Here is what I know.

Door pins are -negative
all 3 door pins are wired independently
I used blocking diodes on all of the wires (used this sites how to)
I tied the pin wires into the -negative wire on the alarm harness.

I waited several minutes after arming the alarm before attempting to open the doors.

I programmed the alarm for door pin sensing.

The alarm- ultra start u441
the car- 2007 Toyata Yaris 2 door hatchback

any input is appreciated.

I did some testing and cut the diodes out and twisted one of the pin wires direct onto the alarm harness to check if the diodes where the problem.


Is it possible that the domelight supervision circuit is causing a problem?

The way I understand how the negative trigger works is when the door is open it grounds the circuit. If I armed the alarm and then grounded the wire coming off the alarm harness should that trigger the alarm or am I not understanding how these pins work?

If I test the door pin triggers I assume I would read zero volts with the doors closed and 12v with them open. Would that be correct?

Also, how can I test the alarm harness side?

If I cannot get it working is there someway to use the dome light to trigger the alarm?

The dome light supervision wire is a -negative. I tried tying the alarm harness into the dome light wire and that didn't do anything either.

Another thing is the alarm harness has a wire for -negative and 12v door trigger. I am using the -negative wire, I assume that would be correct.

so the plot thickens.....

On the advice of someone "in the know" I closed the door and tried grounding each door trigger wire individually. If the wiring was ok then the open door light would illuminate on the cluster. The passenger side and hatch wire would illuminate the light. The drivers side however did not.

Easiest test was the fact that when the door opens the light illuminates on the dash, so I knew the car harness wire was in tact.

next up I unwrapped the tapped connection to that wire to see if the solder broke or something. Everything looked solid.

I thought maybe the wire was broken so I wrapped another wire around the connection and it did not light up the dash when grounded. Now I am thinking that the wiring sheet I got was bum. I checked the one off this site and it shows the same wire as the other sheet I have.

So now I am going to have to remove the door panel and see if I can locate the pin and its wiring.

Hopefully I can find the correct wire so the wiring sheets that are going around can be corrected.

but drivers pin is red, passenger front is blue, rear left is green, and the right rear is blue

these wires can also be found running down the kick panel and towards the rear of the vehicle , or at the fuseblock top left plug

I got a wiring sheet from the guy I bought the alarm from and I looked at the one that is on this site. Both show the red wire being the drivers side door pin. That is how I had it wired up. I am going to find the "pin" in the door and either tap into it right there.

well I located the door pin. It is on the B pillar so I pulled off the interior panels and found the wire going to the switch. It was red just like it should be in the fuse panel. I just tapped into that wire and everything works as it should now.

It works with ALL the doors now....?
