Hi all, I'm getting ready to install a basic alarm on my brother's 93 Mazda MX-6, mainly for the benefit of adding keyless entry. I know that I will need to add an actuator on the driver's side, which is no problem. How do I go about integrating that with the factory actuator in the passenger side, and what type of power lock is this system? I looked in the wiring database but all it states is "add actuator." If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm experienced with this sort of thing, but not with Mazda locking systems.

The added actuator is needed to "flip the switch" since there is NO lock/unlock button. After you install the 1 actuator it will control the entire lock system. You'll see.

Thanks for the reply! Now that you mention that, it does make sense--since the lock/unlock lever in the car unlocks the passenger door when you use it. That will make the install much easier. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm putting in a very basic keyless entry system on my brother's 93 Mazda MX-6, and it has no factory disarm output. He would like to keep the factory alarm, and I'm trying to think of a way to do this. The unit has the door lock relays built in, and I had to add an actuator, so this is a very simple 2 wire door lock system. Could I add a relay to the unlock wire (which would be positive when unlocking) to convert it to negative and use this t? If I've thought it out correctly, when he hits "lock" the unlock wire will then be negative and the relay shouldn't respond, right? Do I need diodes across the relay or anything? Thanks in advance.

I'm installing a very basic keyless entry system on a 93 MX6. Trouble is, it has no factory disarm output, and we would like to keep the factory alarm, however basic it may be. I had to add an actuator to the drivers door, so this is a very simple blue wire/green wire hookup, and the box has the relays built in. Could I possibly wire a relay to the unlock wire (which will be positive when unlocking) to change the polarity and send the car a negative pulse? Will the relay ignore the negative input it gets when he hits "lock" (as the unlock wire will then be negative)? Any diodes you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

According to the technical info I have...the factory security arms with lock. Disarm is a yellow/red on the BACK of the fuse box. It's a NEG(-) pulse. Without factory keyless...are you sure it has factory security?

It does have factory security, we've tested it by "breaking in" so to speak--rolling down the window and flipping the unlock lever. I'm going to try my idea with the relay.
