I install strictly Crimestopper remote starters. They have the "smart tachless" feature so that in most instances you don't have to hook up the tach wire.

There have been a few that I've done that I know 100% I have to hook up the tach and then I do so.. However, there have been 4 I've done now that showed no signs of needing a tach wire (worked great with the smart tachless) that are now calling me saying they won't start.

I have them bring them in and it's always the tach. Is there any way to test to find out 100% if it will work or will not work with this feature?

I don't want to have to run the tach through the firewall through every install because it sucks to do so but I will if it means I won't get callbacks.

Thanks

Sounds like you just answered your own question. Personally, I would attempt to use a tach wire for every remote start installation.

Well I was hoping there would be some way to test or something so I didn't have to do that.. But yea.. I see what you're saying.

Depending on where you live. If you do it for ex. New York you could run tachless but once it gets real cold do you know it will start? I ALWAYS run tach so I know it will get a signal.  Tachless goes on voltage, if alt or batt is getting weak and dont create the voltage the remote start expects it will not start and stay running.

If you want to keep callbacks low then run tach on all vehicles. That way your spending time on callbacks for legit problems. My systems will sense injectors, coils, almost anything.
