putting valet 561r on 2002 chevy 1500.  it's learning tach but not starting, starter runs for about three seconds then completely cuts off.  brake wire and neutral safety shutdown are both hooked up, this truck does not have the chip inside of the key, also when i put the key into the ignition, the remote start does still not work.  any help would be awesome, thank you.

02, still has a chip in the key... Look for your dash indicator when you remote start it... Ya need a GMBP bypass or equivilent

if your sure its not the key. try using a different wire for your tach, reprogram tach learning and try again. or you can change the programming over to voltage checking and see if everything is working.

This truck has Passlock II. There is no chip in the key, but there is a circuit inside the ignition switch that must be interfaced with to allow the truck to start correctly. As mentioned the GMBP module is a very good choice to use and doesn't cost a fortune.

DEI says if you put the key in and turn it to ignition on, you should be able to use the remote to start it. Done this, no luck. Thank you for the input!

Thats is not always correct espicially on gm products with passlock II. You have to have a bypass for the passlock II and your truck does have it.

If you can program the r/s to voltage sense then there is no need for a tach wire. I have a 1999 Silverado set to voltage sense with a 555l from DEI and she works like a charm. The tach wire is kinda hard to find on that truck unless you are a contorsionist. Set to voltaghe sense a SHIP-IT!!!

sounds like a passlock issue... what bypass module did you use?

Passlock is not a transponder based system so leaving the key in the ignition wont make any difference at all.... the R code is generated during crank....
