Hey everyone about a year ago I had a remote start installed on one of my cars by a shop. The guy did not solder the connections but rather stripped some insulation off each wire, He the used a razor and carfully split the strands of the wire in half and inserted the remote start wires in and wraped it around many times. These connections seemed good because instead of just stripping the wire and wrapping the wires coming from the brain around it, he split the wire in half and put the brain wires in there making it impossible to for the connection to fail. Do you guys think this is a good way of connecting and why yes or why not.thanx

Yes that is a good way to make the connection if the electrical tape is also applied properly. It still would be better to also solder that connect, but.....

My preference has always been to solder, but if you look in the manual for the Ford branded (Code Alarm makes them) starters/alarms they actually tell you to 'worm' the connections. So if an OEM recommends it, I guess it is acceptable. I will stick with solder though, it has never let me down.
