This feature is in place so that you don't crank the starter again while the system is remote started.

It prevents your starter from engaging when the car is running by the Remote starter and you accidentally turn the key to the crank position.  It is not necessary but it sure is nice to have.  You have to cut the starter wire and install a relay between the two sides using your (-) output when running to trigger the relay. Three wire harnesses are nice for this because they come equiped with a diode and you have 1 less wire to install.
