I noticed this today when I was trying to reduce parasitic current drain. With the car off, doors closed, alarm disarmed, the current drain goew from 34 mA to 24mA when I unplug the antenna from the brain. Why would the antenna use 10 mA of current?
*Note, this is for a Viper 791 XV

So you are having a battery drain problem.....? it's not the power antenna....it may have shown on your meter, but it's been there all the time, before your new head unit, before your viper...etc.

You might check the way some of your "extras" are wired on the viper (if you have any). Go thru the whole thing...see if somethings hot, that should NOT be.

i think he's referring to the Viper antenna.....    keep in mind with the paging feature ON that the antenna and the remote are communicating with each other every 10 seconds or so..... over 3-4 days this will certainly qualify as a parasitic drain....

when going out of town for extended periods i always tell customers to turn the paging feature OFF or pull the battery from the remote .....
