Has anyone seen vacuum door locks on a 97 Jetta. This guy keeps trying to tell me his car has vacuum door locks but none of my databases show that. All of them show positive door locks requiring a double pulse for unlock.
And what is the situation with the parking lights: "Note: Hidden release tab for light switch on upper left side of switch. Use relays to isolate the switch side of parking light wires from seeing 12v, or the igniton circuit will pulse with the light flash. It is also possible to use the hazard lights. The colors are BLACK/ white and BLACK/ green, and are positive trigger. They can be found at the alarm module or steering column."

Charge him double to make him happy :) As far as I can see there was no such thing in Jettas.
jetta uses a central vacuum door locking system, da vacuum pump is located in da trunk in da right side behind da covers. i know dis for a fact cuz i werk for volks wagen and i've replaced tons of those piece of craps.
dats for old jettas only, new model jettas dun have dat system. sorry for leaving dat out b4.
yes, the car has vacuum door locks, but no big deal the lock wires are positive trigger. But as PLAYER69 says charge him double, and he'll feel that he has a Mercedez. As for as the lights go use a dual make ralay to seperate light wires use the hazard lights . DEI makes this relay it works fine in this applications, part # 8626 (or use 2 relays.) test wires

Ok so this guy must not be so bright, I started telling him again how Jettas do not have vacuum door locks, at least as far as the installation is concerned like Bnluis said and he doesn't notice that he had accidentally told me Jetta. The guy finally told me, oh yeah I have a Passat. Well this doesn't change much as far as the install goes.
It stilll looks like I need to use relays on the parking lights to isolate the switch side. I see I can use the hazard lights but that sounds like I have to still use relays. I do not understand what I need to do though: What wire or wires do I need to isolate: The notes say to isolate the switch side, does that just mean 1 relay to break the continuity and the other to trigger the parking lights? Here is what my notes say: " Vehicles equipped with daytime running lights may require relays to isolate the switch side to prevent backfeeding other circuits in vehicle."
anything else strange about this car: I noticed the trunk release on the Jetta needed to bne isolated lik the parking lights, but the Passat does not mention this. However, I saw some wierd note that said unlock needs a double pulse which is fine since I can program the unit for double pulse, but it suggested using a DEI part 452T and using a diode and a relay for this. I dont see why this would be necessary if i already have double pulse unlock as an option. Heres what the note says: " Some models require two pulses to unlock - use 452T, diode, and relay to operate. "

Jrilla, yes you would stall need relay to isolate parking lights. Only if car has daytime running lights. Wire relay tu interrupt the switch side
1 relay pin 30 away from the switch, 87a to switch side, 87 to 12 volts. 85 and 86 trigger relay, if your alarm has (+) or ( - ) negative parking lights wire them in a manner that triggers the relay. This set up is for one parking light wire in the car. Use one relay per wire, left and right.
As far as door locks go just set your unit for double pulse, that note must be for some of the older alarms that only had one pulse. That's where the 452t comes in it crates a double pulse from a single one.
the trunk wire shold be a 12volt trigger RED \ WHITE ( + ) at switch, unlike a Jetta there is no need to isolate the switch side.
